About Takumi Baseball

Every glovehas a story.

We are a small team in Japan who give pre-owned baseball gloves a second inning.

Our story

In Japan, a glove is more than gear. Players clean it, oil it and shape it after every practice. When they move on, those gloves deserve another season. We find them, care for them by hand and send them to the next player.

Why pre-owned from Japan

Too good to waste

The Japanese word mottainai means regret when something still useful goes to waste. It is part of everyday life in Japan, and it shows in how players treat their gloves.

Many young players are taught to see their glove as a partner. That is why so many used gloves in Japan are still in great playing condition.

Where our gloves come from

Bought from players across Japan

Our gloves come from high school, college and club players all over Japan. We check each one in person before we buy it.

The same gloves are on the shelves of our shop in Japan, so every glove is first come, first served. Buying directly from players is how we keep our prices well below new.

How we prepare every glove

Six innings of care

Every glove goes through the same steps by hand before it is listed. Nothing is rushed.

  1. 01
    Photo: Inspect

    1st inning

    Inspect

We check the leather, pocket, palm, laces and stitching, and note every mark we find.

  2. 02
    Photo: Deep clean

    2nd inning

    Deep clean

Dirt and sweat come out of the leather, inside and out, with cleaners made for gloves.

  3. 03
    Photo: Condition

    3rd inning

    Condition

We oil and moisturize the leather so it is soft, strong and ready to play again.

    4th inning

    Relace and repair

When laces are worn or broken, we replace them, and fix loose stitching where needed.

  5. 05
    Photo: Reshape

    5th inning

    Reshape

We shape the pocket by hand and let the glove rest closed around a ball.

    6th inning

    Photograph every detail

We photograph every angle and every flaw, so you see exactly what you will get.

The people behind Takumi

Hello from Japan!

A message from Japan

Thank you for visiting Takumi Baseball.

Every day, gloves come into our shop with a player's name still written on the thumb. Some were used for one season, some for ten. Each one carries hours of practice and someone's care.

We started Takumi Baseball so these gloves can keep playing, and so players outside Japan can use the quality of a Japanese glove at a fair price.

We are real people, and we read every message ourselves. If you have any question about a glove, just ask us.
